In brief...

  • The Big Switch is a new way for us to take the power back from big gas and electricity companies. 38 Degrees and Which? are teaming up to get a fair deal on our gas and electricity bills. We’ll bargain as a group with gas and electricity companies to persuade them to give us the lowest price.  Sign up by 31st march to take part.  Click HERE for more information.
  • The council have made funding available for a knee-high strong wooden barrier to be installed around the perimeter of the playing fields bordered by Burlington Ave, Gain Lane and Oswaldthorpe Ave.  This is great news as it will deter cars from using the field, making it a safer place for children to play and animals to be exercised.  The council have already measured up the site, so the fence should be on its way soon.
  • Yorkshire Water is appealing for residents to identify the most disadvantaged in the district who could benefit from extra help and support through their free 'Helping Hands' scheme.  This is designed to help those who require additional support, including elderly customers, those with a disability or serious injury, mobility issues or a serious medical condition.  For more details, see this report in the T&A.
